How long does toxic plastic residue stay around? Am I safe to cook with this pot?

I am boiling toothbrushes for a craft project so that I am able to bend them. However, I know that plastic releases dangerous toxins when heated. Will the toxins stay in the cooking pot for a long time? How can I get rid of them? Will they coat the pot? Can I use this pot for cooking any longer?

plastics dont release toxins until usually around 300 degrees or more. boiling water is at 212 so i think you will be fine. wash out the pan really well if you are concerned.

I doubt they can get hot enough to cause any problems at all. It won't hurt the pot. However, I have my doubts that you will be able to bend them all that much after bending.
