I am looking to buy a car that is reliable and will last forever(something you have to beat to kill, but still with good gas mileage) i have been looking around and some people have pointed me to the Honda and Toyota (Carrola, civic, Camry... etc.) I was curious how long exactly do they really last? i have heard up to 400,000 miles but that sounds unreasonable... i have also heard that the parts to fix them if they DO break down are really expensive...is that true? im looking to SAVE money in a long run...
how long to they really last? and how likely are they to break down and need to be fixed before then? also, if you have any other car suggestions for me that i dont know of feel free to let me know! :D
thanks in advanced! :D

Buy a Honda Accord. Great little cars. I dont think you can actually wear one out. Im on my 7th Accord. And I only buy a new one when the body style changes.

In order for a Honda to last forever you do have to follow the maintenance schedule which is expensive. Timing belt changes are a must at the specified intervals. With proper maintenance the powertrain will not break. 400,000 miles is not unreasonable at all.
