How long does it take light from the farthest object we can see in the universe...

...to reach our eyes? What is it? I am trying to prove a point to my Honors History teacher and I really need to know this answer soon. thank you for all of your help :)
 
well were still waiting for an answer because there is still light that hasn't reached us yet in the universe.
 
light travels 300,000 Kilometer per second!!! It takes about 8.5 minutes for the light to get from sun to earth. so what you see happening in sun now was actually happened 8.5 minutes ago. same is true for the whole universe. If you see a star that is 10,000 light year away, that means what you see is what happened 10,000 years ago.
 
longer than the age of the universe, because of the inflation that occurred within a couple of seconds or minutes after the Big Band.
