i have a cichlids fish missing its tail because of some of the other fish decided to pick on it and eat its tail
how long does it take it for the fish's tail to grow back

About a two weeks if tail is almost completely gone. Depending on how bad it's chewed up. And what kind of ciclid it is. Making sure there are at least two female ciclids for every one male ciclid, pretty well ensures there wont be any bullying going on. And having them all about the same size helps too.

about 2 weeks depending on species and gender. either sell or put the other fish in a tank if it'll keep doing that. if it does, it'll just get a LOT worse :|

It will grow back within a couple of weeks, even days for minor tears, unless the fish is in the same tank, continuing to get harassed, in which case it could continue to get worse.

make sure you have enough freshwater aquarium salt along with Aquarium Pharmaceuticals MelaFix in the tank,

the salt will help reduce the fish from being stressed out from being nipped at. During disease and stress, healthy gill function is disturbed. This can lead to the loss of electrolytes through the gills. This reduces the intake of oxygen and release of carbon dioxide from the fish. Aquarium Salt reduces electrolyte loss and promotes gill function. Use with remedies to improve disease recovery.

the melafix will help repair damaged fins, ulcers and open wounds. Heals open wounds & abrasions, treats fin and tail rot, eye cloud, mouth fungus and promotes regrowth of damaged fin rays & tissue. Will not adversely affect the biological filter, alter the pH, or discolor water. Safe for reef aquariums and live plants. For use in fresh or salt water.
