i know that some famous books didn't become famous until long after the authors died, but i'm wondering how long it took, say, the harry potter books to become bestsellers. months? years? is there maybe even a common trend where most famous books become famous before a certain amount of time has passed? and what actually defines a book as being a bestseller?
