FIVE units?! Most classes are 3 credits. It is usually one credit for each hour per week you spend in class. If you have a class that meets one day a week for three hours or if it meets twice a week for 1 1/2 hours, it is still three credits. But if it is 5 credits, it sounds like it may have a lab or something that you have to go to as well (which could be 2 hours long from the sound of it.) The highest # of credits I've ever heard of was a 4 credit class (three hours of class and an hour lab). Community college classes are the same as 4 year school classes (regardless as to what anyone tells you). You should get your Associates degree from the Community College before transferring though (instead of transferring out right away). It makes it a lot easier to get in because you already have a degree. Also, it ends up being cheaper in the long run. Your diploma won't say "2 years at a community college and 2 years at the University of Kansas - Bachelors degree" It will simply have the name of the school you ended up at and your degree. Also, in college there are semesters. They usually last about three to four months at a time. Then when the next semester comes, you have all new classes. There's also summer semesters if you want to go then and finish quicker.
