How long do you groom your cats for?

And what do you use? My vet recommended a two sided comb to me and the cats quite like it, but I find it is more effective to brush backwards than forwards. This does catch the odd unexpected snag, however. But even after 20 minutes, there's still loose hair. So what do you use, and for how long?
They are both DSHs by the way.
 
Get the Furminator - Google it - it gets rid of every single stray fur, you cant go wrong and the cats love it!
 
I think they are going to shed regardless, if you have found a way to brush all the excess hair off a pet let me know!
It sounds like you are doing a good job, nice work on actually grooming your cat, alot of people do not.
 
i dont groom my cat. they prefer to do it themselves.
but if you must, use a specialized pet comb so the fur doesnt get stuck
