How long do you date someone before discussing marriage?

If you're married, how long did you date your spouse before you planned for marriage?
 
We dated for about 1 year, moved in together for about 2 1/2 years, split up for about 1 more year, and then got married.
It's been almost 27 years now.
There is no set timeline.
You need to feel comfortable with other, and it is good if you are each other's best freinds.
