How long do fish usually live?

When I was 9 years old, I played one of those ping pong games at the fair and I won a goldfish. When I brought it home, I figured it would only live a few days. Now I'm 14 years old, it's been over 5 years, and it's still alive! What's the normal lifespan of a fish?
