how long did it take you to be ready for your driving test?

I have had 8 2 hour lessons & 2 one hour lessons, so 18 hours all together, and i am USELESS still. i just drive allover the road, take the wrong turns when my instructor blantently says "go left" i go right. i nearly crashed last friday as i just drove out into the road without looking, he had to brake for me. And when he said "what are you doing!?!?!?!?!" i said so gormily "iii donnnnt knnnnow" like a complete simpleton.

anyone else this stupid?
 
lol sounds like ud be great at banger car racing . Do you know what it is , I used to have the same issue , maybe not as extreme but similar. The best way i found to deal with it is to actually feel comfortable in the seat . So that means not leaning forward the whole time and just sitting back a bit more. It helped me a hell of alot and It makes you relax and concentrate more. Give it a go on your next lesson . Try going out driving with parents aswell just to get some extra practise . Getting to know your local area and becoming comfortable with your surroundings is the key
 
Driving is simply not for you. I would suggest going out in the middle of no where and practicing. You are like Spongebob. Was fine and got my license first time through.
