How long can a fighting fish go without food for?

My fighting fish refuses to eat and hasn't eaten since Friday morning... its currently Tuesday, 9pm. He seems fine though. I just changed his water because I know that not eating isn't normal but I was just wondering how long they can go without food for...
 
i feed my fighting fish one dry meat grain a day and he is happy. although my sister forgets to feed hers alllll the time and its still alive. so im guessing about a week? the pet shop told me there stomachs are as big as there eyes..
