How long can a cat go without eating?

I'm going to my neighbors twice a day to feed her cat. So far, the food is still there and it has been 4 days. She is hiding and I can not find her. That happened once before but they were only away for 3 days - they will be gone for 8 days this time. I'm worried.

The cat will come out eventually, just make sure that you are refreshing the food cause it gets stale. maybe find where the cat is hiding and put the bowls near her. Make sure you find her though that is top priority, remeber cats can get into the strangest places. good luck to you

You should call the neighbors and ask them for advice. You should have seen the cat by now or at least noticed a movement or some food and water should be gone. The cat could be hurt or locked in somewhere so make sure you look really good before you call.

I was watching my aunt's cat this week, and he was lost for 3 days. I had given up hope, until he was found in a drawer (one that is never used. it is still a mystery). 4 days without food, but he is just fine. As long as food is there and plenty of water the cat should be ok as long as it is not trapped somewhere. Take a good look around, and call the owners for advice.

Did you try shaking the food or using wet food? Ask the owner first. Make sure the food is in the same place she always eats. Call the owner and ask if there are any other foods wet or treats that you can offer her. Also, look around and make sure you at least see her to assess whether or not she is okay.

Have you looked for her in closets and stuff?
Make sure the cat didn't run away or escape or worst!!! It may be upset that her people are gone, but 4 days for a cat to go without food is not normal.

Is the litter box used? Is she a strictly indoor cat? Can u rattle something that will make noise for her to come out??

What makes my little man ALWAYS come running is just the sound of a can of wet food being opened so try that?
Keep us posted. I hope she's OK

Give her new food (the old food may be moldy) and add a little soft Pounce to it -- that might entice her. If not, give her new food and pour a LITTLE tuna juice OR sardine juice (from the can) on top -- that may entice her too.

you might want to put some hard Pounces here and there where she can find them-- that might be like an Eating Adventure to her <:-)

Has she been using the litterbox?

Have you changed her water?

I would be worried if she had not eaten in 4 days-- it could compromise her liver.
