How long after enlisting in the army do they drug test you?

I was thinking about going to see a recruiter soon to try and enlist in the united states army but i happened to smoke some weed just recently. I don't smoke regularly, it just sorta happened this time around. I'd say i've smoked 3 times in the last 2 weeks and before that it's been about 4 years since i last smoked. I want to enlist but i'm afraid of getting dismissed for some stupid ass choice i made.

Also, What is the maximum age you can enlist into the army? I'm 24 and im wondering if it's too late.
yes i know..i'm not really one for drugs at all. it was just one of those times when i was like fuck it. but i really am not one to smoke regularly. it's not a problem for me not to smoke either. like i said it had been years since i last smoked weed and this time was just a stupid mistake. i smoked last week and i wanted to go see a recruiter on monday. is that too soon?

also, do i only have the national guard as an option right now? can i just enlist for regular deployment or am i too late for that?

Your first drug test will occur at MEPS, during your pre-enlistment physical. Drug testing while in service, is random and unanounced and will be conducted as often as your company or battalion commander dictates.

The maximum age for joining the Army/Reserves/National Guard, used to be "Not having reached the 35th birthday". That has been changed since I retired, but the upper age limit is now either 40 or 42, so you are not too old to join the Regular Army.

I got tested right when I went to MEP(military entry program) and you will be tested again when you get to basic training. Talk to your recruiter and be honest with him/her, they will have a drug test in there office that you can take before you go down to MEPs. If all else fails just wait until it is out of your system. When should take about one month time as long as you don't have a lot of body fat. You will not get booted out for having smoked the recruiters are cool, they listen to you. And 36 is the maximum age and you my friend are no where near that. But it may have been a while since you've been in school so I would get a hold of an ASVAB study book so you know what to expect and you can get a good score and a better job. It is not to late to sign up for deployment however jobs are waning thin so the better your score on your ASVAB the better your chances of getting a job and better yet a job you want.

You get tested all the time, especially when you first join. If you plan on making the military a career, lay off the weed and all drugs. You have plenty of time to join at 24. Max is 36 for Army National Guard. They test us every 3 months or at their choosing.

24 is not too late and I got tested my first time when I went to MEPS. So you should be ok tell you go to MEPS. After that, I would totally quit if I was you.
