Hey,
I have had 2 spinal fusions of L4-S1. I agree that every case is different and to seek your specialist advice. But my testimony is that the pain of the surgery was so great that I would'nt risk anything other than walking for about 2 years - that's when they say the bone is the strongest. But it also depenRAB on where in your back the surgery was done. Mine being lower/tail bone area in the middle of my hips. For my type of fusion twisting is definately a no no. I have been living with my fusions for 7 years now and had my first at 29 yrs old and even up till now I tried lifing a plant out of my garden a few months ago and the first time I knew I hurt it quite badly - that was enough for me not to do that again. Listen to your body. I have played volleyball without any immediate pain but what happens afterwarRAB is a slight paralysis of the muscles where I can't even get up off the floor. I would play but stretch heaps afterwarRAB to alleviate the after affects. Where my fusion is it helps to stretch heaps, stretch and walk. Hope this helps your question
