How likely is it that he will go to jail?
I called the police bc I did not want a fight to escalate into anything more than it was and my husband was forcing me to leave w/o our baby. I shoved him he shoved me and obviously I was the one left with rug burns etc. The police came and arrested him NOT WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. And in Iowa when someone is arrested for domestic they automatically get a no contact order and night in jail.. anyways the next day he got out and came back to the apartment (broke the no contact order) bc a police officer told him he could go back once for his possessions... my mom told me to call the police, I was mad so I did... he was arrested for breaking the no contact order and his hearing is tomm... he is facing 7 days in jail... how likely is it that he will be able to get out of it if he was given bad advice from an officer and I was pressured into calling and was not there when it happened.. honestly I wish none of this happened it has gone WAY TO FAR!!
 
Iowa has zero tolerance for domestic violence. You seem to think you have some sort of control, it is the COURT"S order he violated. The other poster was correct, I am also 100% positive he was told to go with an officer on a retrieval OR he could have waited.
You mother and the other poster that "has been there" are correct. Whether you realize it or not, this is NOT normal domestic behavior.
Anytime a man threatens a woman with her child, the authorities take instant notice and so should you. It has not gone "far enough" because we have no idea what has changed. Nothing it would seem. This situation reflects a dynamic that will only escalate until there is intervention. So, next time he gets mad and does take the child away for a " drive" to get you upset, what could happen? Think ahead, think about the child he feels he can use a a bargaining chip with you. None of this is healthy. Listen to your mother. And listen to us that have seen these situations end in tragedy
