Many people use their cordless handset and put it back on the cradle/base and keep it there all the time. Is that bad for the battery? Should I put the handset on cradle only when it needs charge?

For most newer cordless type phones, it is o.k. to leave it on the cradle. The older type NiCad batteries developed a memory, and were best used when fully charged, then fully discharged. Newer batteries (Lithium Ion and Nickel Metal Hydride) do not have a memory problem, so it is o.k. to leave them on charge, or trickle charge..
