Ok so I had a psych quiz. We had to read an article on the back about a kid who had to write an english essay on Iraq. He knew the school didn't endorse his behavior but he chose to run away from home and be in the middle of the action to better write the paper. The question asked us to explain his motivation using the arousal theory. Half the class said that he was obviously a sensation seeker and wanted to obtain a higher level of sensation to meet his optimal level of arousal. She marked all of these wrong and said sensation seekers weren't part of the arousal theory (even though it says so in our book). A correct answer in her mind was that "he was bored and wanted to raise his arousal level." Not only does this sound ridiculous, it also mentions no where in the article that child was bored, or used any similar term to describe his state of being. How can I confront the teacher the best way possible to earn back the points?
