How is specific gravity found in motorcycle battery?

I have a battery that came with the electrolyte solution in a separate container, do I need to add water to this electrolyte solution or just add the solution to the dry battery? Is there a special tool to measure the specific gravity because it says to get it to 1.26. What does all this mean?
