How is Mercury created?

how is the chemical Mercury (Hg) created? if you have ANY answer, it'll be appreciated! but make it sound scientific (:
okay, thanks so far, here's some more details. the question is how does producing mercury use energy? and what form of energy, and how is it supplied? along with that, i need to know about any "boosters" that are involved in the production of Hg.
 
Mercury usually occurs in minerals as the sulfide called cinnabar, HgS. Heating cinnabar in the air liberates the metal:

HgS + O2 ===> Hg(l) + SO2(g)
