How is it Ford turned a profit whereas GM and Chrysler, bailed out by Obama, did not?

Because people saw Ford as a better product, and more people bought Ford, with there clunker money; they said a company that doesn't need bail out money means something...they are more likely to be around in 7 years when I get ready to trade in the car..do you really think there will be a Chrysler car company in 7 years??? I wouldn't want to take that chance.

Ford owns parts of mazda, landrover, aston martin, volvo and jaguar along with itself mercury and lincoln. Mazda is still selling well in other countries and aston martins racing program is doing really well. Jaguar is doing fairly well in britian. Volvo was doing well until the decision to discontinue it was made. Ford had some of the most popular vehicles from cash for clunkers like the focus and f150. Ford owns too much to really not profit.

Rebuilding takes more than a few months. Also the UAW voted down the stuff that would have brought their contract in line with Chrysler and GM. So they are spending a lot more money to build cars then GM and Chrysler are.

Because Ford started cutting cost long before the other two did and is starting to make ground were GM and Chrysler just came out of bankruptcy protection and still have a long way to go before they are in the black again.
