Hi There:)
Apples and other fruits in that category actually have a natural waxy coating when they grow. Without that coating they will dry out and lose their crisp juiciness. When the fruit gets picked at the orchard and then cleaned and processed to get rid of the dirt and any pesticides (unless organically grown) the natural wax coating of these fruits is washed off. The wax that you and I find on the fruits at the produce section is a replacement coating (a few drops) that is totally not harmful to anyone and 100% safe (not petroleum based at all) for all and necessary for us in order to preserve the natural yumminess of those fruits.

If you go to the orchard where you pick your own fruit you will see what I mean by the natural coating of an apple pear etc.

Have a great day:)
