How is complain rock appealing?

I deleted my last question because I sounded too much like a hypocrite. So without sounding like one, I'll ask again. Most mainstream rock today involves angst, complaining, having a whiny voice, and mediocre guitar playing? How has it lasted this long? I find it to be the equivalent of disco and hair-metal (much worse, actually). Call me old fashioned, but I miss the days when rock was fun and had guitar solos. Today, having a good complainer is more important than having a good guitarist. I don't mean to sound whiny and hypocritcal, but rock with complaining is the worst kind of noise ever. Will somethng better replace it in popularity (and eventually become a lightning rod of hatred)?
The thing that prompted this question was somebody's assessment that gloomy, depressing, angsty music automatically and generally gets credibility while upbeat, technical, and fun rock gets the shaft.
 
I totally agree with you. Good Great rock is overlooked these days replaced by shitty artist, singers, and bands. Everything has been done before Nothing Original has come out. I miss those days when every genre was different as well as their style Now everyone looks alike and sounds alike what's unique in that? And the reason this crap music is "IN" or popular is because of stupid kids that have no taste whatsoever. They think it's deep and therefore they're deep and dark WHATEVER! I think all music is dead. I stopped listening to radio YEARS ago and I'm glad. I haven't suffered through any of the new whinny disappointing music. Even failed pop stars have turned to rock to make sales. It's ridiculous how this could happen.
. I hope that IF ANYTHING replaces this new garbage, It'll be Real, Raw, Souls Stirring Rock.
 
you are listening to the wrong bands i guess.. every decade has its share of trash.. there are bands which are still good and have awesome guitar playing .. like Children of bodom, sinergy, unearth. black tide, trivium, hellyeah, arch enemy, lamb of god and many more.. also the old guys like metallica, megadeth, slayer, kreator, ozzy, sabbath, are still putting albums out .. so don't complain for rhyme no reason.. look in the right places..
