He was the last brother, the least mythologized, and one of the longest serving Senators in American history. Chappaquiddick will haunt his legacy in death as it did life, and while his loss is mourned it will be brought up repeatedly no doubt by those that did not care for him or the political legacy of his family.
He will be buried with his brothers, both assassinated in the 1960’s, at Arlington National Cemetery.
