How have you gone so long without sex?!?

Before dating my girlfriend I am with now, I decided to take a break from dating and meeting girls which also meant no sex. I stuck with this for just over 2 years for reasons I do not want to go into.

During that time, when ever people asked me the last time i had sex, the majority looked at me like I had just told them I had murdered someone and asked 'how do you do it'?

What am i supposed to say in response to this question?! lol

What am I supposed to do?

I love sex, but needed some time to myself. But I was talking to my girlfriend about this last night and we were laughing.

During those two years, was I supposed to cease functioning? I was supposed to go crazy? Should I have acted some other way other than say...I don't know...living life?!

Do most people honesty need to have sex to function and succeed in everyday life? Because if that is the case, then everyone must be having sex, even my parents because I have not seen any abnormal signs yet, other than slight memory loss and they move slower. But I stupidly assumed that was down to old age. lol
 
I definitely don't think people NEED sex to function. Some people are just immature and don't know any better. I'm personally waiting until I'm married to have sex. I function just fine. I know girls at school who talk about sex 24/7 because they just want attention. So people who ask how do you function without having sex, are probably just trying to get attention and rub it in your face that they have sex. Don't waste your time with them.
 
I probably could manage if I really had to but I wouldnt want to. Life is short and I like the pleasurable things in life like sex so just wouldnt want to ever go that long
 
2 years, but I had an active fantasy life, so it wasn't 2 years without orgasm, but 2 years without another person. I think the people who have the biggest negative reactions either have been without longer and are deflecting, or they have sex indiscriminately and any warm body will do. When I'm in a relationship, I don't like to go too long---I'm married and I think the longest we have gone in 10 years is 6 weeks--and then it was only because he was recovering from brain surgery
 
who ever said that to you probably just wanted to sound cool like they had sex all the time...or maybe they really were nymphos, who knows...but no, its cool that you went with out and dont think its crazy, i go with out alot of times, my hubby is in the army, which means hes away alot, therefore, no sex for me, sometimes it sux, but i can still function just fine without it...most normal people can!
 
I never heard of anyone dying from not having sex, so I guess alot of us will be ok.
