HOW HAS MEDIA CONTRIBUTED TO THE IDEAL BODY IMAGE?

Too much emphasis is made about beauty having the right face and the right body thousands of mostly women die every day because of it.Either through using cosmetics that have poisoned them, through dieting or even plastic surgery. The Dove video says it all, please watch it. It is one of the few media promotions telling the truth. The others lie we will not look like some famous model or actress if we use some product. I choose to look like me because 'I am worth it' In fact I am worth more

By making white girls believe having the body of a 12 year old little boy is sexy, and by making black/latina chicks believe that having a booty the size of Texas is attractive.

Edit: Unless its cottage-cheesed-up KK, then it becomes an abomination punishable by death.

The media uses an unobtainable body image in order to increase the sales of something. This in turn makes people, in general, and women specifically, feel fat. Some of these women kill themselves becoming skinny, while the others eat themselves into a coma. This in turn spurs the sales of diet and exercise books, again using an unobtainable body image. Overall, I'd say it's taken the "Ideal" body image from a thing of beauty, to a thing that decreases our (as a species) ability to have children.
