how hard is it to learn php?

I am a high school student who needs to connect a database to a website for my project and i was wondering on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard it is aswell as the time it takes to learn.

I am also not sure if i need to learn mysql or can i just use an access db.

please help me any advice would be appreciated
