How hard is it to get into NROTC or a Marines Military College?

I want to join the Marines, but I have a 3.8 GPA and I don't want to waste it. I want to be in the Marines as a career. I live in NYS. I can get a recommendation from a state senator.

NROTC isn't hard to join. You just have to be accepted into the College that host the NROTC unit. To get a Scholarship though is a little bit harder. There is no Marines Military College. There is the Naval Academy which you can go to if: You have a recommendation from a FEDERAL congressman/senator, or the depend of a Medal of Honor recipient.

You don't need a recommendation from a state senator

and the Marines are VERY selective about their officers, ESPECIALLY non-prior enlisted types, so by saying "I have a 3.8 GPA (assuming high school) and I don't want to waste it" you're showing some serious arrogance because unless the rest of your record is strong, that's probably not good enough (except for enlisted, that would be excellent)
