it is volunteer and they dont choose you, you go to them and they will put u in the next training class if you qulify

You have to be a very good shot... probably qualify as expert quickly.

Army Sniper School is chosen by your chain of command depending on how many slots your Unit gets.
It has nothing to do with what kind of shot you are. It comes down to who they feel is young, motivated and able to effeciently command a 2 man observation point without becoming 2 dead guys.
Believe me on this the top 2 answerers are way off.

You don't have to be an NCO to apply either. I've seen Spc. go.
