Hi Angel, just a couple of questions, I've been reading and I noticed you been through alot. Like some bad sub withdrawals. I too detoxed off of sub. No taper tho. 12mgs to 0. It was harsh, and I'll never do that again, I suffered for two months of w/d's. Since I got off of it the last time, I relapsed and began opiates again. So I went back on sub, and am currently on 16mgs and I feel good. How fast did you taper? My dr told me that a correct taper should take about 1 year. Slowly going down about 1mg a month. So if you were on 12mg, the taper shoul take 1 year. I think that you went through the bad w/d's that you did, maybe because you tapered too fast?? Unfortunately some dr's do not taper patients correctly. I'm so glad to see that you are feeling better, because sub withdrawals are no picnic, and I think others can now look up to you and the hard work you have done. Congratulations on your clean time, and please stick with it! Talk to you soon!

Telatt.....Hi....I am not sure if I tapered too fast. I just followed the instructions that my addictionolgist doctor gave me. I wanted to get off of it fast and so every appt. I would tell him how I was feeling so that he knew either if I tapered down more, went back up a bit or stayed on the same dosage. Every appointment was different!!!! I am absolutely sure I did it correctly according to my body. Everyone is different I guess.

There were times that I didn't taper as I wasn't feeling ready to. I am not sure if I said but I saw the addictionolgist doc every 2 weeks. I started tapering almost immediately from what they were giving me in the clinic. I came out taking 2 or maybe even 3 pills a day......they were also only 2mg, I can't imagine taking a stronger dose because this dose worked perfectly. I started right away tapering down a 2mg. pill until I was down to only 1 mg. pill maybe a few weeks after leaving the clinic. The slow tapering started after I was on only 1 - 2mg pill and then I tapered very very slow with the help of the doc. That was over probably a period of approx. 2 months. I was feeling great until I got to 1/8 of a pill and then a crurab or too and I started feeling really dragged down and slow especially in the morning and the day after I weaned off of the crurab then all hell broke lose (withdrawls) and it took a good month to feel better. I have lots more energy now but am still not sleeping well at all but hopefully that gets better. I have insomnia and have had it off and on for over 20 years but now the doc has me back on Arabien and it doesn't even work now. I don't want to scare anyone but that is "MY" story. Everyone is different.
Now I have all of my "chronic pain" back and no pain medication and am working on my last nerve.
Take care and everyone have a peaceful and calm day.

Lyn

Thanks Angel. You did the right thing. I know that when I jumped off of sub I could not sleep well for about 3 months. My doctor then put me on Remeron (mirtazapine), and now I sleep like a baby. It's like trazadone, but stronger. That is what helps me sleep. I'm glad you're feeling better! Have a great day!
