how far would i have to go on a bike!?

You want to learn to pedal at a high cadence 70-90 rpm's with a lite pressure on the pedals. That will use your slow twitch muscles that use fat as a fuel. You want to take an easy 10 min ride to warm up.

After the warm up you want a gear that is easy to pedal but just hard enough to get your breathing to the point where you can still talk but not sing. If you need to catch your breath or you legs start to hurt drop down a gear or two and keep going. Your body will tell you when you have gone too far but that will change from week to week.

Give it a few weeks before you start to see big results. You wont burn too many calories at first but stronger you get and the longer you can ride the faster you will see results.

Get a cyclocomputer and keep track of your rides.
