We have a family cell phone plan with ATT. I think we are the only family in the US who doesn't use text messaging or internet on the phone, so we are OK with our basic phones and plan. My question is: if my mom breaks her phone (it doesn't charge right due to a bad connection), what do I need to do if all I want is to replace that phone? Could I just buy the same model phone online (like the unlocked phones on Ebay) and then switch the SIMS card? Do I have to call ATT to activate the phone? Is there a charge for that? When I call ATT, they just want me to buy a new phone and upgrade my service to add internet, etc. Thanks.
How easy is it to buy and use an unlocked phone?
