How durable is a Honda Accord?

I'm a senior in college and I am currently driving a 91 Firebird with 144k on it and it's just starting to show its age. Has been pretty good to me, but I need another car to last me until I graduate and a year or so after that. I just want something with a little better gas mileage and in a little better shape. If I get a Honda, I was debating between a Civic, Accord, or Prelude.
My question is, "How long will either last basically?" I know the engines will easily go to 300k and probably more, but what about the transmission and other drivetrain parts? I only plan on spending like $4000 tops for either and I know that translates into like 120-over 200k on a car for that price. Will it be worth it? I know it will not be problem free with a lot of miles on it, but will it be tolerable enough for a couple of years? What kind of stuff should I expect to be replacing on a Honda with that kind of mileage? If I do get something with a lot of miles, I hope to find one that was maintained pretty well.
Any input would be appreciated. I usually try to stick to American cars, haha, but I do like the Accords and I know they tend to last quite awhile. Thanks

well personally i believe a car will only last as long as you take care of it.. i have a 94 Toyota Camry and for ah year it would take 100+ miles per day with work school and going out.. and well i did not cheep out when it came to maintainable and parts.. had it with mobile 1 full sentetic oil mobile one oil filter only premium gas. complete overhaul tune up every year..

just some food for thought..

but i would recommend accord..

My mother owns ah 97. it now has 167000 miles.. to say that she has mistreated and abused that engine would not begin to give you an idea of what she has done.

My friend owns a 96 he has pushed it for performance. and it has overheated and still going strong..
