How does your child's kinder-garden serve up meals?

At my son's they are asked to bring a piece of fruit to share with everyone, the teachers cut it up for the kids and the plate is the placed the the middle of the table for the kids to help them selves (i love the shared fruit but personally think the teachers should serve it up to the kids)

Also at meal times the kids are given their hole lunch boxes and allowed to eat whatever they want

I know it is silly but I do write on all the containers which meals it is for, and it is never followed

What i don't understand the most is when we arrive at kindy each morning we have to put his lunch box into the fridge, but at the end of the day the teachers put them into the kids bags and then any uneaten food sits in a hot locker all afternoon to go rotten and waisted, when if it is put back into the fridge then that tub of yogurt wont be wasted.....I am not made of money
 
How many times do the kids eat while at school?Don't rely on the teacher to make your child eat the right foods at the right time.They are busy enough.Try frozen ice packs in the lunch box and go over with your child what gets eaten and when.

I agree with the other parents who suggest that you place a cold pack in your sons lunch box. My issue is the teacher not serving the fruit. I know in TX that all teacher or employees who serve any type of food or snacks must take a food handlers class. Gloves must be worn if you are touching food. If children touch food that does not belong to them it is supposed to get trashed.
 
do you mean kindergarten or daycare? my kid goes to school for a full day and they eat lunch in the cafeteria. we pack her a lunch and sometimes let her buy a school lunch. then, in a separate bag she takes a small snack for the afternoon. if you are worried about the fridge items going bad, either put in a cold pack or get the go-gurt sticks and freeze them.
