For one thing, they invented representative democracy--a democracy whereby citizens choose people to represent them, instead of the Greek kind of democracy where everyone voted (direct democracy). The first representative democracy is in fact Iceland, whose 'althing' has existed since 930...Since the Vikings - as Normans and Danes - conquered ENgland, the British Parliament may have resulted from the Viking 'althing.'
