How does the So You Think You Can Dance audition process work?

I'm sure not everyone gets to dance in front of the main judges, but I was wondering how it worked. Do people get put in groups and dance, and then other judges pick out people to go to the next round? How many rounds until you get to dance in front of Nigel and Mary?

All of em dances in front of Nigel and Mary.
They are given a number at the entrance and wait until their turn.
If the judges like what they see they give them the ticket for the next round and if they aren't sure they make them do the choreography. I think.

They don't get to dance infront of nigel and mary first. The first thing they do is put you in a room with your style. They play a song and you dance to it and they pick the people who they felt was the best. THEN the people they chose go on to nigel and mary. When they get infront of them, they have 2 bring a CD with the song they want to dance to. (must be legit) and from there, they get sent home, sent to vegas, or stay for choreography.
