how does the montessori activity of transferring apples with tweezers educate kids?

i am doing a report on maria montessori and am thinking of showing my class one of her acitivities and i was wondering how the act of transferring applies from one bowl to another with tweezers or transferring marbles with tongs helps kids learn.
