How does the ipod touch bluetooth work?

Okay, someone told me that the bluetooth won' t connect to cellphones. So, does it connect to other ipods or something else? So, can anyone tell me what it can connect to and how to connect it?
I have a 2nd Generation
 
its not for phones.

some laptops/computers have bluetooth, you can connect it to the computer and you can download stuff, its good if you don't want to use the lead.
