How does the cold war and communism relate to arthur millers play the crucible?
and what caused the cold war to escalate during the post-world war II period?
Also, what are the tenets of Communism and why were they a threat to the US?

Thanks(;

Well the reason it's important is because the author wrote The Crucible in response to escalating anti-communism sentiments.

The Crucible is basically about how leaders convinced the community that some women were witches in order to preserve their power.
In the post-WWII period the US government was trying to blow up communism as a "horrible" thing in order to preserve their democratic government. The main tenet communism as strangely the same as that of democracy-- equality for all.
