How does Taxing the Gas that comes out of cows help the environment?

Is there a real logical explanation or is the gov. just trying to squeeze more money out of ranchers and consumers to try and deal with the Trillions of dollars in debt they are in????

I does not help the environment. Cows do not vote and their owners only have one vote. The big spenders in DC need every dime they can get!

Methane is a greenhouse gas that is about 100 times more powerful than CO2. This is significant.

It's just because the government doesn't know WHAT to do, so they are trying to do something that they know won't work just to make people happy. The carbon emissions from cow manure is nothing compared to the carbon from internal combustion engines in cars, trucks, airplanes, etc.
