How does renting a U-Haul work when moving out of state?

For example, if I'm moving from PA to NC do I have to travel all the way back to PA just to drop off the U-Haul at the exact location where I got it from? Or can I drop off the U-Haul at local U-Haul rental company in NC that will then have somebody from the U-Haul company return it back to PA? I'm not familure with these things, I don't even have a drivers license, but I can find somebody to drive for me so that won't be a problem. But I would like to know how this U-Haul thing works when going out of state. If somebody, preferably with experience, could please explain I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
About how much more money is it for the company to bring back the U-Haul to PA?
And Pat, you're a d!ck. I said I could get somebody with a driver's license to drive, I'll save up and pay with cash and if they still insist that they need a credit card, then it's whatever 'cause wifey got a couple of credit cards (the cards aint worth much but they are active).
