I wrote this when I was 13. I had recently read 'Macbeth' and a few short stories by H.P. Lovercraft and wanted to try my hand at poetry... Not brilliant, but I would appreciate opinions. Much Thanks.
Ode to the Shepherdess
Far from mountains
Where the jetty raven sings
Far from crystal lakes
where arched birds beet their ivory wings
Sits an hamlet of darkness and woe
Where by day its inhabitants sleep
And by night; the only light
Is that of the Shepherdess and her thousand sheep
I call, "O' Shepherdess! O' Goddess!
Tonight you have mine life!"
And her orb doth let through a hand
To slice a shimmering bridge with her celestial knife
A kaleidoscope of colour crosses mine eyes
Before me lies Mother Sea embossed with beams of doom
Golden moonbeams oft swayed by yeasty waves
Such beams as lead me to my watery tomb
With water now atop my brow
I'm gone forever within the gloom of the sea
A face like none other I dully percieve
Come to sooth my heavy soul, and set my spirit free
Now in the blackness of death
We finally unite!
The Shepherdess has her shepherd
To eternally heard the lambs of light.
