I am doing a research paper and I need to write from a feminist point of view about the book Catch 22 by joseph heller

Feminist point of view basically just looks at how the story relates to different aspects of feminent culture. For example you might note th types of jobs women in the story do and relate it to the kinds of things women in that time period have done or are likely to do. Basically anything relating to how women have be oppressed or viewed by society.

Huh.. well, pick your "feminism" first. There are several different kinds. The easiest thing, I think, would be to "Wiki" feminism.
You could also google "Feminsist PoV"
I LOVE Catch 22 and I'm a feminist writer....and I'm having difficulty with this concept for an assignment.
Here's my best shot for you:
Feminism is greatly concerned with egalitarianism. It usually stands in opposition to hierarchy. The military is extremely hierarchical. Many feminist theorists contend that hierarchies are damaging to relationships between people, and damaging to people individually. Think of the relationships between the higher ranking and lower ranking men. How did it screw up someone's life when he was promoted because of his name? How did the highest ranking behave? How did the lowest ranking establish a hierarchy amongst themselves? How did all this affect their ability to work together.
And so on, and so on, and scooby-dooby-doo.
I hope this helps... hard assignment!

I just wanted to clarify that "feminism" extends beyond the effects of things on women - though that's a major piece of it. feminist theory tried to apply feminist concepts to all systems
