HOW DOES IT WORK IF I WANT TO GET ANOTHER T-MOBILE PHONE BEFORE MY CONTRACT IS UP?

Ok so my phone is water damaged and everything is all messed up on it now. I want to buy a new phone! But what im not understanding is if I have to buy a new t-mobile phone for the retail price or will I get the cheap price for already having a 2 year contract? Thanx a bunch in advance!
