How does depression effect the biology of someone?

Depression can have several root causes, including a lack of seratonin , which is a brain chemical. Depression can cause a decrease in testosterone, as well as other biochemical problems. Changes in sleep patterns [intense amounts of sleep, inability to sleep] etc. Check out the DSM-IV the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the offical registry of mental disorders, such as depression , scizophrenia, etc.

It seems like it maybe changes your face (bags under eyes, maybe your expression remaining one way for a while changes apperance) But im not sure, does anyone know about depression and biology?

Thank you very much : )
