another line of same question is:--What material may have been added to the film that had nothing to with the true story of the Salem Witch Trials and Puritan Culture?

I extremely doubt that the love affair of the main character with that jerk-girl is true, however I'm not certain.
 
Do your own homework. Its really not that hard and this is important stuff to know.
