What i mean is, why does the coolant in a car get low? Like, where does it go? Does it flow to somewhere? I think the coolant in my car is low, because my temp. warning light has been coming on and then going off when i drive or when the fan comes on...i think i need to put more in it...

3 reasons:-

Leakage
Boiling off
Evaporation

Top up your coolant to the exact mark on the expansion tank, making sure the radiator is also full to the top when the engine is cold. Check that the seal on the radiator cap is in good condition and then monitor your water level over a few days,

If it goes down, then you need to investigate why.
