how does backup works in blackberry...?

i got a blackberry 8900
how does backing up the data works...
lets say, if i run a backup , does it save a file to the desktop manager or my PC desktop

so, what happens if i uninstall the desktop manager and reinstall it...will the backup file still exists..

and now, whenever i do a backup and restore, does the backup process looks for the backup file in any standard location...

please clarfiy the backup process in blackberry 8900..
 
i highly recommend downloading desktop manager and backing up the device! backing up the device allows you to backup all the information on your blackberry onto the computer. there are many reasons to backup your blackberry: 1. if for any reason lose your phone, you can restore all the info onto your new blackberry. 2. if you're having issues with your phone and a wipe is the only way, having the backup will allow you to restore all the contacts, calendar, apps, themes, etc.

the backup files will be stored onto your pc so if you decide to delete/uninstall desktop manager, the backup files will still remain

when you need to restore your phone, the desktop manager will ask which backup file you would like to restore on the phone and you can select which one (latest backup, previous ones, etc)
