I am getting a scooter before the winter and I will have to park it for the 5 months of winter...

I heard that the best way to keep your scooter in shape is to ride it regulaly.
Is the snow bad for the yamaha bws 2009?
I was planning on once in a while, like once a month, to take it out for a little tour even if there is snow.
Is leaving the scooter untouched for over 5 months a better choice than taking it out on the snow once in a while?
Are there any better options for me?
