Well can't they get DNA samples from bones? Then they can find patterns in the DNA, like for example the Tat-C lineage, and narrow down the person's origin tremendously.

I am a big fan of forensic science and have watched many documentaries about forensic science. But I have a question - how does a forensic anthropologist determine the ethnicity of a victim if the victim is a mixed race person? Suppose a victim is a quarter black, a quarter white, a quarter chinese and a quarter native american. How does a forensic pathologist determine the ethnicity of such victim with such diverse ancestors?

Certain ethnicity have their own characteristic with regards to the bone shape but what if you get 4 races mixed together. How do you determine the ethnicity in such circumstances?
