How do you wash your dishes when camping?

If you have a supply of running water, the big blue spigot jug you can get in the sporting goods section at Wal-Mart is great. This and two white plastic tubs from the housewares section is all you need. Fill the jug with as much clean water as you need and set it on the edge of the picnic table. Place the wash tubs on the bench under the spigot and there you have it. Wash in one and rinse in the other. If you want to get really fancy, you can boil some water on the fire and add it to the jug when it's almost full.

In my family we have always warmed up water in a tea pot over the stove and dumped the water in a dish pan. When I was younger and we had no campers, we warmed the water up over a camp stove. In that case someone would take a large jug and fill it with water by the camp bathrooms.

When I backpack I bring one Glad plastic tub (small) for everything that I eat and to clean out you dishes you put a little water in and scrap all of the food off the sides. Then you gut-sump. You drink this water that has food in it.
